How to use Flip GIF
- Choose an animated GIF from your device.
- Choose horizontal for a mirror image or vertical to turn the animation upside down. The whole animation is transformed.
- Select Apply and preview, then download the result.
Frames are processed one at a time, so long GIFs are fine. Very large frame dimensions can still exceed the local memory limit, and Reverse keeps every frame in memory at once; resize or shorten the source if needed.
Frames are re-encoded. File size may change. If a composed frame exceeds the GIF color limit, its colors are reduced; the result reports when that happens.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the difference between horizontal and vertical?
- Horizontal mirrors the image left to right, like a reflection. Vertical mirrors it top to bottom, which turns it upside down without rotating it.
- Does flipping reverse the playback order?
- No. Flipping changes the picture, not the timing. Use the Reverse GIF tool to play the frames backward.
- Does flipping lose quality?
- No resampling happens, because each pixel moves to an exact mirrored position. Frames are re-encoded, so the file size may change slightly.
- Is my GIF uploaded to a server?
- No. Flipping runs entirely in your browser.
