How to use Fit GIF to Canvas

  1. Choose an animated GIF from your device.
  2. Choose canvas dimensions, fitting mode and background. All frames stay centered and keep their original timing.
  3. Select Apply and preview, then download the result.

Frames are processed one at a time, so long GIFs are fine. Very large frame dimensions can still exceed the local memory limit, and Reverse keeps every frame in memory at once; resize or shorten the source if needed.

Frames are re-encoded. File size may change. If a composed frame exceeds the GIF color limit, its colors are reduced; the result reports when that happens.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the fit options?
Center without resizing places the original at its own size on the new canvas. Fit inside scales it down until the whole animation is visible. Fill canvas scales it up until the canvas is covered and crops the overflow.
Can I keep a transparent background?
Yes. Transparent is the default and transparency is preserved. Choose Solid color only if you need a background, for example before posting somewhere that renders transparency as black.
Why would I pad a GIF instead of resizing it?
Platforms often expect a particular aspect ratio, such as square or 9:16. Padding reaches that shape without stretching the animation or cropping anything out.
Does this change the animation timing?
No. Frame delays and the loop setting are preserved; only the canvas around each frame changes.
Is my GIF uploaded to a server?
No. The canvas is composed in your browser.
