How to use GIF to PNG & Frame Extractor
- Choose an animated GIF from your device.
- Keep frame 1 for the first-frame converter, enter a range such as 2-8, or choose all frames. Export up to 500 frames at a time.
- Select Apply and preview, then download the result.
Frames are processed one at a time, so long GIFs are fine. Very large frame dimensions can still exceed the local memory limit, and Reverse keeps every frame in memory at once; resize or shorten the source if needed.
PNG frames include the complete composed image, including content retained from earlier frames. PNG exports preserve transparency.
Frequently asked questions
- Which frame does this convert by default?
- Frame 1, which is the classic GIF to PNG behaviour. You can also enter a range such as 2-8 or choose All frames to export the whole animation.
- Is GIF transparency preserved in the PNG?
- Yes. PNG supports alpha transparency, so transparent areas in the GIF are preserved in the exported PNG.
- Can I extract every frame from an animated GIF?
- Yes. Choose All frames, up to 500 at a time. A single frame downloads as a PNG; several frames download as a ZIP, with each frame also listed individually below the tool.
- Do exported frames include content from earlier frames?
- Yes. Each PNG is the fully composed canvas at that point in the animation, not just the small region that changed, so every frame looks the way it does during playback.
- Why use PNG instead of JPG?
- PNG preserves GIF transparency, which JPG cannot, and it is lossless, so no quality is lost beyond the GIF's own fidelity.
- Is my GIF uploaded to a server?
- No. Frames are decoded and written to PNG entirely in your browser.
